RETREAT PLANNING FAQS

Nov 24-29, 2024 | Location: Synergy Retreat Centre, Uvita, Costa Rica | The retreat will begin approx. 330pm our first day, and end by 10am the last day (to give time for check in/out). Please arrange your travel accordingly. Let us know if you need to arrive late or leave early. *Note, we recommend guests arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica the day before (Nov 23) if you'd like to join the group shuttle to the retreat centre. We will have recommended hotels you could book at the night before to make travel easy and breezy :)

Some women may enjoy arriving to Costa Rica early or extending their stay, so this leaves you the extra freedom to customize your trip to honour your own needs and desires to get the most out of this transformational experience.

We recommend shopping around through sites such as Skyscanner, FlightHub, Expedia and Google Flights to find competitive prices. Don't delay on this, prices tend to go up the closer we get to the date. If you need help reach out to us so we can send you some more tips, or link you with other participants & their plans. To make your travels more smooth & enjoyable, we suggest arriving to Costa Rica by Nov 23, if you're able. (Consider staying a night nearby SJO in an inexpensive airport hotel, or come early and settle in to the lush beauty Costa Rica has to offer!) We also recommend not flying out until Nov 30 or later, to enjoy the entire retreat experience. (Note it takes aprox 3.5-4hours to get from Synergy to the airport, depending on road conditions.)

The best/closest and recommended airport is SJO (San Jose aka Juan Santamaría International Airport) near the city San Jose. SJO is approx. 4 hours from Uvita. Liberia (LIB) would be another option however travel time is approx. 6hrs (perhaps longer based on traffic conditions) and you would need to arrange your own travel to get to/from the retreat. There is also a charter plane from Liberia to Quepos (or SJO to Quepos), then a 45 minute taxi to get to Uvita.

Getting travel insurance is up to your discretion, but recommended. Every person will have their own needs, so take the time to do your own research and make the choice that feels best for you.

Yes! One shuttle will be arranged through the retreat center to pick up participants from 1-2 hotels near the SJO airport on the morning of Nov 24, 2024. There will also be a shuttle to take participants from the retreat center back to the airport the morning of Nov 29, our last day. Just let us know in advance, if you'd like to join the shuttle and be ready for the scheduled time of departure to join. (Our travel coordinator HappE will confirm these details and times about 1 month before we start, but the shuttle will be mid morning on Nov 24th.) It is recommended to book your flight to arrive in SJO by Nov 23rd and stay overnight in order to make the shuttle the morning of Nov 24th. If your travel plans vary from this, you would be responsible for your own transportation and additional travel/shuttle costs, some women choose this for more flexibility. You may consider taking a bus to Uvita or renting a car and carpooling with other guests. Lots of options! :) (Please also note: shuttle travel times are highly dependent on traffic and road conditions. We normally stop for lunch on the arrival shuttle. Cost of lunch is paid for by guests and is between approx $10-25 based on your preferences.)

Be prepared for an amazing experience with a great mix of sessions, workshops, movement, circles and ceremony as well as free time. Our days will be full, although sessions are optional. Please scroll down to see our general itinerary/schedule. (Note: subject to some adjustments or change based on weather, programming, and the needs of our group).

If you are an MD you may be able to claim up to 15hours of non-accredited CME time for sessions you attend. We will be learning about ways to prevent & reverse caregiver/healthcare worker burnout, build resiliency, practice mindfulness and other science based practices to support our wellness. (Other designations may also be able to claim education time based on your own profession's guidelines.) Email us for more info.

We'll be sharing a list of packing and preparation ideas with you as we get closer to the retreat date :) Think toiletries and self-care essentials, beach + lounge wear, fun layers, a good journal + book and anything else that you'd enjoy having to feel comfortable in a tropical beach environment. We may have some rainy moments, so rain gear is also encouraged. If you'd like to do any excursions, comfortable and supportive footwear is recommended. The retreat center provides yoga mats and plenty of props - so no need to bring any of that unless you have your own personal gear you'd like to have.

PAYMENT FAQ'S

A $600 non-refundable deposit is required for you to register and claim your spot. This can be sent via e-transfer (preferred) to renew.and.riseup@gmail.com, or using the payment methods provided when booking. *Note: save $50 if making your payments by e-transfer, deposit is only $550 :)

Refunds are available up to 60 days before the Retreat start-date. A full refund minus the $600 non-refundable deposit and $200 admin fee will be administered to the email address on file. As a small business, after that date, no refunds are available. We apologize for any inconvenience and trust you understand the nature of this policy to best support this offering.

In the event of a delay between our registration and payment systems, we reserve the right to refund, or re-allocate payment towards another, available booking option. We will contact you to discuss your options in the event of this happening.

E-transfers are preferred and can be sent to renew.and.riseup@gmail.com, or payments can be made via credit card using the options provided above. After your initial deposit of $600 a payment plan will be available to you, or pay in full to take advantage of a reduced rate. You are responsible for sending payments on time. We reserve the right to decline entry for late or missed payments.

Nope! Meals and some light snacks are included, as well as unlimited self-serve tea+coffee+drinking water. We provide dinner on the arrival day, breakfast+lunch+dinner on days 2-5, and breakfast on day 6. Food will be prepared fresh, on site, by an experienced (and female!) chef. Our meals will be mainly vegetarian. You will feel fuelled & nourished, we guarantee! Please let us know if you have any special dietary requests, we are happy to provide accommodations.

Days 2-5 General Schedule:

730-830 am— Mindful movement/meditation (yoga/tai chi/mindful walking/shaking/stretching /dance medicine)

Followed by brief women’s circle to connect and start our day

830-1030 am- Free time and Breakfast- all organic vegetarian food

1030-1230 am- Workshop/facilitation/group process (Examples/subject to change to flow with group needs & process - breathwork, holistic health & healing practices, psychoeducation, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, group hypnosis, divine feminine leadership, dyad or group reflection exercises, mindset shifting - we have a lot we’re excited to share with you!)

1230-230 pm- Lunch/free time

230-430 pm- Excursion (waterfall/surf/Cacao ceremony/other options) OR afternoon workshop/playshop /educational salon OR book a massage or other service at charge, OR enjoy some free time

5-7 pm- Dinner & free time

8-930 or 10pm- Evening offering: Women's circles, ceremony, sound healing, or other restorative activity. (Last night - closing circle and bonfire)


Day 6 (Last day)

730-830 am - Morning mindful movement and closing gratitude circle

830 am - Breakfast & free time/final connections before check out
